Trustee’s Monthly Report NOMINATING COMMITTEE NOMINATIONS – Ed Baggett, Chairperson COUNTY MAYOR NOMINATIONS AND APPOINTMENTS – Mayor Bowers ANNOUNCEMENTS ADJOURN 13-1-1 RESOLUTION TO REQUEST THAT INCREASES IN COMPENSATION FOR APPOINTED OFFICIALS AND DEPARTMENT HEADS TO BE DISCRETLY PRESENTED AND APPROVED BY THE BUDGET COMMITTEE AND THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS DURING THE REGULAR ANNUAL BUDGET PROCESS WHEREAS, elected officials shall have the authority to allot their budgeted salary as they deem appropriate to efficiently operate their office; and WHEREAS, while compensation for elected officials is governed by T.C.A. § 8-24-102, no such statute exists pertaining to appointed officials or department heads equaling their salaries to that of elected officials with the exception of T.C.A. § 5-13-103(d) which states the compensation of budget director shall not be in excess of the compensation allowed county officials; and WHEREAS, any request for increase in compensation for appointed officials or department heads should first be heard by the Budget Committees and then voted on by the entire Montgomery County Board of Commissioners during the regular annual budget process.
